This is really nice and you have every right to be pleased with your results! Great color harmony. Well balanced. Great Toucan bird among the great foliage.
Really well done!

A lovely piece and appropriately titled too, with subdued but vibrant colours throughout and great structure and variation that shows this toucan perching on the branch of a tree amongst the tropical looking leaves and plants surrounding it, with excellent contrasting colours throughout and great variation in shapes and colours. The accuracy and proportion of the plants and the bird itself are spot on, and the detail is fantastic and precise on the toucan, with its beautifully multi coloured beak blending in with the big green leaves behind, and great shapes and structure that vary fantastically and are well chosen and contrast nicely with the darker colours of the blue leaves and claret red foliage, and the iridescent and intricate blue feathers of the bird and black down surrounding the head. Overall a fantastic composition and a great entry for the competition, best of luck in the polls! :)

Inks are fun to work with. Great job on the color selection. The black background really brings out the colors. Love the blue on the bird and how the flowers stand out. Good luck in the contest. Thank you for sharing.

This conveys a very tropical feeling. It has great impact and is well composed. My only observation is that the beak blends with the background color. Perhaps a darker green would separate it

Hi there, I found this beauty in your portfolio tonight so wont call you by name because of the contest rules.. Love your toucan.. and the story behind creating him. The scene is truly joyous.. the colours are bright and offer a fabulous cheery emotion to your picture. The toucan is delightful. his colourful beak boasting those green and red hues with a splash of yellow truly compliment the surrounding foliage.. I like his yellow patch around his eye area which contrasts nicely against the black hue down his neck that extends towards his colourful wings.. the strokes used to create the feathers on his wings are very effective and life like. they are almost shiny in appearance and have a great textural value.. with the highlights accentuating the individual feathers.. well rendered ... and that touch of white at the top of his tail is a happy inclusion on his feathery body.. that extends into those well rendered tail plumes.. good blending of earthy tones on the branch he is perching on. makes the branch look lifelike and barky in appearance.. The fabulous choice of background foliage sets the scene off perfectly. the heart shaped leaf on the left with its black markings has a soft and welcoming appeal.. Love the upright grey and red spikes .. their shape is a good contrast against the straighter lines of the branch and the red touch is perfect in bringing all the scene together along with the red in toucan's beak and the dangling red flower on the right.. a beautiful balance of colour and design. The fan shaped leaf in the lower section on the left is a nice inclusion. the green hue is matches the tones on his beak well .. and the two leaves on the right beneath the branch have a pleasing curvaceous shape which contrasts against the more rigid lines of the fanned foliage. the upright larger leaf on the right offers that slightly brighter green hue which helps make the toucan pop.. a good choice of colour and shape to complete the background display.. even the brownish tones used to define the leaf shape work well in bringing all the foliage together.. The black background that is seen between the foliage offers good contrasting against the various shapes of leaves, making their appearance sharper and more defined. the entire scene is visually delightful and has such a happy emotion coming from within. thank for sharing your toucan sitting proudly on his branch.. he has been an absolute joy to review. cheers mel and best of luck in the contest

I like this one a lot. It is a happy artwork with it's bright colors and fun Toucan bird. I can see this in a beach home or tropical hotel room. It is abstract in nature and a colorful, lively artwork.

fantastic sense of patterning, but still staying within a recognisable creation. Must say, I love your patterned pictures. lovely greens make up a very beautiful 'leafy' painting

Yes I rather like this painting. The style kind of reminds me of some work done by Henri Matisse. Nice. The painting has excellent control of the different volumes of color contained by the black lines The tonality and values of the colors are totally supportive of the overall visual impact of the painting. It is a pleasure to look at Reasons for my five star vote.
