Congratulations on completing a complicated and time consuming piece of fine contemporary art.
I like you choice to go with the black background - it sets a mood and gives some mystery to the piece.
The colors are harmonious and compliment each other nicely.
The positioning of the bird adds depth and scale to this good art.
I think your pulling away from the pastels was also very wise - pastels wouldn't have worked as well.

The details and colors , Light and dark tones all come together so perfectly in this wonderful arrangement! You filled the page! The black background was the perfect choice too! I can see this as a bright wall display in a sunny room full of plants and as a page in a storybook! Very well presented! I loved viewing and best to you in the contest!

This is such a fun painting. The India ink really makes those bright colors stand out perfectly. You also did a great job with the details of the toucan. You did an excellent job and I thank you for sharing this creative composition with us. :)

Very good job here. I like that you used the same color pallet for the background as you used for the bird, it really ties it all together. Lots of interesting shapes as well.
