Excellent capture of this beautiful iconic garden. I like the angle you used for this showing the Japanese bridge and willow tree which Monet featured in many of his paintings. The lake looks crystal clear showing brilliant reflections. Looks like a perfect day. Lighting and focus excellent showing a beautifully crisp image. Lovely composition. Suzanne

Cyber six! This image is beautiful and striking! I love the crystal clear scene with exquisite color. The details are sharp and the reflections are just magnificent. This pond is beautiful and I can see why it was used in many art scenes..
You have captured it wonderfully.

Fred,
A beautiful picture of this pond in Claude Monet's garden in it's early summer colourful glory bathed in sunshine under a clear blue sky the trees the Wisteria covered bridge & other red & yellow blossom covered bushes reflected on the mirror still water of the pond in the foreground. Artistic composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

I think even a colour-blind person would be inspired to paint this scene.! This is a wonderful shot of nature. You have framed it well. The light and shadows, colours and the composition have worked out well. Good effort!

What a glorious site of vivid colours, reflections in water and bright blue sky. Looks like an ideal day to be walking around a park/garden like that! Love that weeping willow and multi coloured trees and flowers. Beautifully framed, thanks for sharing!

A wonderful capture of this famous artists legendary (amongst certain groups) pond that as you state is seen in many of his paintings, I am no art expert but do recognise this scene - captured fantastically from a great central POV that shows the varying tones of green in the different trees growing on the far side, the fabulous willow tree to the left still healthy and lush as ever; rich colours throughout and with the Japanese bridge you point out in the centre with the lovely purple blooming tree above that along with the dashes of reed and yellow trees contrast well with the green B/G. The reflection is captured superbly in the still and mirror like pond, with the small green boat to the left (from memory this is another inclusion in one of his paintings is it not?) completing the piece nicely, with a peaceful scene of people relaxing around this serene and beautiful garden & pond. The clear blue sky behind accentuates the piece and outlines the trees nicely, with great sharpness and DOF throughout - fantastic work, well done :)

    thanks a lot Ed for your lovely comments;
    not sure for the boat: it is from the guy cleaning the lily pond: I'll post tomorrow...

    Hahaha this has really made me laugh this morning thank you for clarifying that; there is me being all nostalgic and optimistic but you have corrected me so poignantly with the reality of the boat being there. I have woken my fiance up laughing. In my defence he does paint many boats and I am getting mixed up......I have also noticed from looking at his work you have captured both in this piece and the flower competition entry brilliant similarities and angles to some of his pieces so especially well done. ;)

    the people taking care of this garden try to keep it as it was 100 years ago, particularly the flowers and vegetation choosen by Monet;
    but in some of his paintings, he moved the willow tree on the other side....

    They seem to have done a pretty good job too! Yes I think I have noticed this but presumed it was due to perspective or something I had missed artistically lol. Thanks again Fred :)
