Wave crashing onto Shore

This is really a fresh and impressive wave; which is about to crash onto a beach. yes you have captured a major battle indeed; between the fluidity of the water and the compact sand that is reluctant to leave the scene. waves are very magical both in nature and the many different art (and music) forms they represent, such as 'new wave' and 'no wave'. sometimes they are very powerful and can clear any stagnation, or they can destroy and destruct (sometimes a good thing to). but this one comes with a breath of fresh air and a most kool vibe!

Thank you very much for your encouraging and thoughtful review. Oh yes, waves are one of the oldest subjects which occur at all known art forms, myths and religions. :o)

and that is exactly how it looks. I like the "wall" of water. Just waiting for its turn to beat on the sand. The small section of "whiter" sand adding depth and realism. Good luck and well done.

Cool,Cleo!
While I honestly don't understand very much about Digital Art I'm very much enjoying the interestingly Dynamic look of this fine example that you've presented us with here!
It's quite a 'Good Show',my friend! : )

This is awesome! Such great details in the water especially for it to be craahing against the shore. Great job of different colors of blues to show depth and the start of a new wave in the back. My only sugestion would to maybe make the front of the wave more curved. I just saw the bottom of the painting at first and thought it was a waterfalll untill I scrolled up more. I love how realstic the white foam in with the sand looks especially.

Thank you very much for your encouraging review. Those waves have indeed a great resemblance to waterfalls. Some of them go up in a small steam if the over-rolling stones or other obstacles. :o)

I love the moving water in this piece. You did a great job of capturing the movement and the lights and shadows. I like that you even got the beach sand being pushed back to shore. This should be the winner!

Very well done Cleo. This is very realistic and shows nice action. There is a good bit of drama in the scene and shows the collision of sea and shore. I am not familiar with how to do digital work. You mentioned palette knife, and various oil brushes. Are there specific programs for doing this type of thing?

Very well done work of art here Cleo ~ Steve

Thank you very much for your encouraging comments. There are indeed special paint-programs. I used ArtRage 4.5.2 pro by Ambient Design to create this painting. The tools are moved with my fingers on a touch pad. There is even a version for I-phones on the market, but I think it has limited features than the computer program. :o)

Nicely done this. I love the color you have captured in the waves. It looks like the north pacific from the greens and slight blues actually.
Great perspective, brushwork and detailing.
Quite beautiful.
Thanks for sharing!

Thank you very much for your encouraging review. It could be indeed the North Pacific, but I used a Caribbean Coast as model. :o)

This is a beautiful digital painting! I love the depth and weight you've given the curling wave as it comes ashore. The water is nicely transparent where the water is thin and conversely dense and moving toward the shore in the background. A wonderful entry for the contest!

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Cleo Girl, this is beyond Cleotastic!
Before I opened it I thought it was a cool photo. The angle draws us in to the breaking wave as it greets the shoreline. It's incredible how you managed to get such realistic colors and clarity on the water. The movement, the clear water where we view the sand is truly awesome.
Beautiful painting with superb attention to details and movement.
Bravo!!!

The clear parts of the water are incredible as are your colors which reminds me of our ocean water here. It's one of your best since your return Cleo!!
