The black and white format gives this place an overall eerie feeling to it. The sharp tones and the cloudy sky provide a nice dramatic impact.

I truly love viewing this. Rendering it in B&W was perfect. The architecture shows quite clearly. And your excellent use of the light and white of these last few days with snow has given you some wonderful grey tones and just the right amount of heavy blacks. Shadows are effective but not interfering with the details in this scene....not even the sidewalk. Well done!

Thank you for your artist notes. You have brought Alaska to the forefront for the members of FAR.. And I have no doubt that many more would like to visit your strong state! I know it has many hardships for many of its natives. But my gosh....what amazing nature scenes she provides. And with someone who is brave and active with her camera like you....we get to visit her and imagine the frigid cold, or the slamming winds, or the fresh smells of spring, or the calls of your four footed and your winged residents. Thank you again for sharing, Pat. I have told you visiting your state is on my bucket list! You have only enhanced my desire to visit it.

Black and white was the perfect choice for this photograph. It has beautiful tonal variation and is loaded with wonderful detail throughout. Perfect off center framing adds so much interest to this scene and again this photo has that special look that I love to see.
Beautifully presented and framed, it would make a wonderful painting.

Thank you so very much! The inside is just charming, it?s all done as if it were 1915, they don?t allow photographs inside unfortunately . I value and appreciate your support!

A well composed image that looks particularly nice in this black and white presentation. I like the wintery look with the barren trees and the snow.

What a blast from the past. When working in Anchorage I stayed at the Captain Cook hotel just down the road from here. Walked the coastal path everyday - so peaceful. Love how you have made this black and white so in keeping with the style. The sky looks amazing. Another great photo.

Pat,
A beautiful picture of this Historic Anchorage house now a Museum built while Europe was in the throes of the First world war...A war that changed the world! Beautiful composition framing & lighting you conversion to B&W adds a vintage atmosphere to it. Taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.
Thanks for sharing it with us.

This looks like a postcard. (compliment) It is beautiful in black and white and gorgeous with the snow on the ground and the cloudy sky. Very nice lighting allowing good shadows across the grounds and the house. '
I love the architecture of the house and I bet it holds a lot of fun and informative information inside.
wonderful depth and focus. Just simply beautiful.

Wow! Thank you so so much! I really appreciate your wonderful review and super generous rating! The inside of this house is just awesome, it?s all done like it?s 1915, unfortunately, they don?t allow cameras. That tree on the left is a lilac tree and in summer it?s full of purple blooms!
