Such interesting notes w/ your piece here and I agree....definitely very exotic looking. Wonderful entrant for this contest.

I love the crispness of your blossom....beautiful. The color is natural....image is well exposed and you've presented it w/ stunning detail. Well done all around I'd say. Not only gets my vote for this contest but my final gold star of the week. Best of luck. It's one of the best presentations of this variety I've seen!

I like these types of flowers and this one's colors are very pretty. They are very much like a combination of the bird of paradise flower and bromeliads. The stacked levels really make this an interesting looking flower. Your exposure and dof are wonderful!

    I've never seen one actually open all the way... I'll have to make it a point to try to catch that.... thanks so much Grace.

a very nice close up of a Heliconia flower; Nothing to do with a bird of paradise!!! nice natural colors with pin sharp focus against the blurred green vegetation;

    thanks Fred, I changed the title and content. I was told by someone at the gardens that this was a Heliconia and they are related. So I put the Bird of Paradise thinking it was the same thing.

I love bird of paradise as they are such exotic blossoms. Their vivid red rigid bracts with the hint of yellow and green are superb. You captured the waxy looking leaves very well in this image.

A super beautiful shot of a bird of paradise plant. I have these in my yard and my photos never turn out like this.
Very nice composition as well as good work in the light studio utilizing some filters and color tweaking.
A fine job on this! Poster perfect!!!
