You are so very good at capturing the mood of your subjects in your art. The posture of your stag...looking at us over his shoulder is endearing. As he seems completely at ease with us looking at him as he meanders his way into the open meadow. I love that.
You did a fine job working from the top to the bottom of your art board. Your path is very well done. It is not just a swath of flat brown area. It has excellent shading and depth as it moves upward to the opening in your trees. Your red leaves are typical of deeply forested areas as they randomly appear...just as you have them here. They try just a bit to take the attention away from your stag. But I'm sure he would rather have it that way. :) Beautiful work as always. Thank you for sharing. And best of luck!

Oh it's lovely Linda and glad you included the notes about it heading from the woods into a meadow. I can see the bright meadow in the upper frame.
Your trees are nicely done (White Birch are a favorite of mine) and the underbrush up along the right is quite realistic. Like how your deer is turning to look behind himself. Lovely color throughout....nice work w/ pastels. Best of luck to you in the contest.
