Beautiful! Nice stop of the action! I love the water splashes to show the motion, nice positions of both birds showing the different stages of their landing.well focused, clear image, well controlled exposure, natural colors and tones. Well presented!

Grace,
A beautiful picture of the White Pelicans landing on the water the low level sunlight dances on the water's surface & lights up their breasts, heads & long heavy beaks. Your fast exposure freezing the spray they throw up on landing. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

You have pictured these two Pelicans so well, and the stop action is just perfect. I especially like how well the splashes of water are captured and the slight reflections in the shiny water.

Both birds are standing out sharp and well defined against the background, and it is clear details to be seen in both birds. The exposure is spot on.

The photo is nicely cropped and the birds have got a very good placement within the frame. I think this is a lovely and well taken action shot, and with an excellent DOF.

They are a large water bird. I have only seen the brown ones. The black tipped wings are pretty against the white of their body. Their orange bills and feet and legs are striking. The knob like protrusion on the top of their bill creates an interesting texture to the face.

Thank you! I have not seen the brown ones in person. I think they are neat looking too. Those knobs go away after breeding season.

Yes, they do look like lovely birds, speaking as a Brit! Your fine composition captures a nice action moment in the life of these birds. Sharpness and exposure are good Nicely done!

I love watching these guys land! Best water skiers without skis ever! I see the bumps on the bills so it's mating time for them.
You have fine focus, great stop action and nice control on white balance. I wish for more highlights on their faces which I would have lightened selectively.
And YOU knew I was going to say this! LOL
Me thinks Sange will want more light!!
Great find and capture GG ;)

Your camera techniques are at work on this skill fully captured stop action shot of the two Pelicans in different landing positions. I think the slight hint of movement and dof adds to this scene. Very well photographed with good placement of the Pelicans in your scene. Good light handling and good details on the feathers and markings of these gorgeous birds. Overall I love it! Outstanding work and thanks for sharing.

an excellent stop action Grace; I have the same camera as you (also another one) and you can only dream of a 5200 mm lens, bbecause you cannot change the lens;!!!
a very bad idea also because this Canon lens weights 220 pounds (100 kg)!!!

Thank you Fred! The super telephoto is a dream :) I'd have to invest just as much money to find a way to lug it around, lol!

Great capture, Grace, showing the two beautiful White Pelicans landing on the water - I like how you caught the two different poses. Excellent notes accompanying this, too. Very good lighting and focus showing a lovely clear image. Excellent composition. Suzanne

A visually appealing still motion capture!
Sharply focused fine features & textures despite the low lit condition...
Gorgeous poses.
Subdued lighting.
Ideal framing.

Nice perspective & narrow DOF.

Thanks for sharing...
