I do like the fragile wispiness of the background flowers. They appear to make the blue bird pop up! Colors chosen and composition are pleasing to view! Good effort!

Thank you. I did not take my paints with me as I was overseeing the remodel of his bath to make it handicap accessible. He had a stroke and can no longer get in and out of a tub.

I am so sorry

I love how you work in the play of light into every picture you paint. It's absolutely fantastic, as is this picture. This painting is truly wonderful. I love the lighter feathers toward the middle and the realistic eye

This is a beautiful watercolor
paint of this bluebird surrounded by these mimosa
blooms. When I look at the blending of color and background in this work, it really reminds me of a beautiful texture of a material print. This is so well done and presented. Just lovely!

Hi Linda thanks for sharing this delightful painting of the blue bird in the blossoms of the Mimosa tree. It has a really happy emotion emanating from within as your little feathered friend sits comfortably amid all those lovely blooms.. I love the rendering of the birds wing feathers.. the colours used blend nicely to give a lifelike effect of the display of his pretty blue coat. the splashes of white highlight well and offer a feeling of depth within his feathers.. the short strokes used to render his head show smaller more refined feathers.. his breast area is neatly detailed with the slashes of yellow and blue hues giving him a nice three dimensional appearance.. as he stands proudly on the branch beneath him. Interesting brush strokes used to create the blooms on the Mimosa tree. the random strokes of different shades of pins create a lovely background and blend well together with the occasional green brush strokes resembling the leaves.. the pastel tones work beautifully and the added touch of blue sky in the background is a pleasing inclusion bringing harmony to the scene.. and complimenting the tones used on your bird.. the scene is nicely balanced and offers a tranquil emotion to the mind's eye. thanks for sharing your little blue bird.. he has been a joy and a pleasure to review. cheers mel

Thank you John. I find it a struggle but if I do not keep trying I will not learn to master it. I am also going to take some classes as I like the softness that can be achieved.

The bluebirds used to nest in my yard too, but I have not seen them except in passing in a few years. This fine rendering makes me think of what I am missing.

Thank you so very much, Mike. We do not have them in South Florida either.
