Bluebirds are a regular visitor in my yard as well and they are so much fun to watch. This is a well done watercolor that captures the details of the bird, the softness of the flowering trees and the spring colors. Well seen and well composed.

Watercolours are one of the hardest mediums to work with - no room for errors! You've used your watercolours very well in this pretty painting of the Bluebird in the Mimosa tree. I like the colours you chose to use giving it a nice light airy feel. I too like experimenting with different techniques - with watercolours you can get some lovely effects by scattering sea salt grains on to wet paint - have you tried that? I like the composition of your painting. Suzanne

Thank you. I shall try the salt technique in a future composition.

I find it works best with quite strong colours, like a Prussian blue but it's fun to try different things. When the salt dries it takes out the colour and leaves interesting star shapes, etc, so it can be quite effective in the background. Suzanne

This is beautiful. And I have just sent back my sister in law to NC...a beautiful place of much inspiration. Thank you for sharing that in your notes.
Your mix o colors is beautiful... the blue in the bird is stronger... and perfect. The flowering tree is in sync throughout..with the light and blue of the sky playing amongst the branches. Your gentle touch with your small brush is crucial to the overall impact of this work. A beautiful work of art. I'm sure your brother would love to have a copy of this. Thank you for sharing!

Cyber six for this one, I really wish I had one left! This is a beautiful blue bird in such a lovely blue tone and he's got a yellow patch above his wing, it's very impressive to look at his wing and see the feather detail and variations of tone there, he's got a bright eye complete with a catch light, he is so perfectly placed on the branch of the mimosa tree, the tree is absolutely lovely with the pink toned blooms , this is very well created with wonderful details beautifully applied, it's a wonderful work and I really enjoyed viewing it!
