This is a very well done and unusual take of this great bird. what I mean is that you got this guy on the down beat of the wings - quite remarkable and very dramatic. Capturing this large bird this way also shows a slightly soft but complete profile of its head - Kudos.
Your choice in camera settings are well established and have produced a high resolution image of good contrast, color and tonal range.
It can be argued that more of the water and greenery on the right would add more of a story line, but you won't get that from me. I think that adding more to the right is irrelevant and would not increase impact at all.
I prefer the central positioning because this take is all about the bird ... B-)) Bob

A very unique wing position you captured here. The down stroke is always more dramatic than straight wings. This shows power in the wings. The colors are nicely rendered and saturated with a nice sharp focus. Good placement in the frame. Can't think of anything to improve this. Well done ~Steve

This is another great shot! The picture is clear and focused, and placed well on the center. My first impression of this photo was a bird is wearing a skirt. The Great Blue Heron is a beautiful creature. And you capture that beauty well!!!
