Coyotes are almost everywhere nowadays but I have never been able to get such a nice shot of one. I like the look in his eye and the very fine detail as well as color.

They're fairly common animals here in the Adirondack foothills,Grace!
( We had a rabid specimen attack a girl in broad daylight on a local hiking path last summer! We all stayed totally out of the woods till that thing got taken down by state conservation officers about a week later! )
Your photo of this one travelling by night makes for an interesting image,my friend!

A very fortunate and very good capture Grace. It takes concentration to keep your head and get a shot when something unexpected such as this presents itself. Effective framing and captured motion. Well done Grace ~ Steve

Thank you! It was a surprise, and he disappeared almost as quickly as he appeared in the first place :)

Wow, yea look at those green, yellow eyes! Yikes! I had one who use to sleep on my hay bail in the front yard. My husband saw him stretching one morning and said, "Awww look how cute." I did not agree! I've had them at my doorstep howling. Spooky! It will give you chills! Great shot though. I can see how you would be nervous. Maybe you should carry some pepper spray.

I was surprised that he just got on the walking path as if that was a regular route! Howling at your doorstep - that would be too spooky for me!! :)

My poor German Shepherd, Sam, was crouched at the door and when I opened it he ran in. There was a pack of them. After that, I put him in at night.

Thank you Sange! You know I worried for days about those cranes when I didn't see them and was so relieved when I finally did see all four of them. I saw the cranes again today and was very happy :) The babies should be flying any time now so that will help them against the coyotes.
