I can't say that I am a big fan of the dog. The view though is definitely beautiful, but I am with you when you said that the statue kind of spoils it. I guess everyone has their preferences though. This is a very unique photo though and I thank you for sharing it with us. :)

What a gorgeous view of the harbor and old town. I'm sure this pup is enjoying the view. I do love the colors splashed all over the pup! I guess that's the whimsical artist in me. Beautiful framing and lighting. Thanks for sharing!

Art is in the eye of the beholder. I am sure there are some that fond this to be an interesting work. The harbor seems a strange place for it b, but the adornment on the statue may relate to the area in some way. Nice image that captures the expanse and age of the village and harbor. The statue may contrast in a way that brings that out even more. Good colors and focus. Well shot.

What a nice photo, I personally like the dog. It adds color and has color in it that's also in the surroundings. I remember when frogs like this were popping up all over Toledo, the downtown river area, and a lot of places. I think the city thought they were an artistic addition. This reminds me of that. Great shot!

The statue with its garish colors does not fit into the scene very well but it certainly does introduce a contemporary look into this waterfront scene.

Yes, I agree with you, this dog statue, colourful though it may be, does not fit in with the view of the harbour at all. I like the angle you used for this. Very good lighting and focus showing a nice clear image. Very nice composition. Suzanne

Yes, the art on the dog does not relate to the history of the scene. If it were plain black it would credit the scene; but it does detract.

I agree the dog does not seem to fit the atmosphere at all. Great shot making that very easy obvious because the harbor scene is beautiful shot with great DOF and detail. Actually, the dog is shot well, too, just grotesque. A neat post.

Fred,
The eye-catching Dog is definitely out of place on his stand overlooking the historic harbour at Honfleur with the colourful houses & shops along the quays, with boats moored against the quays. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.
The Dog might be alright in an art gallery BUT not on the harbour.
Susan
