Seems like someone did a lot of work to build this decoration! Your full and central composition allows us a good look at it. Exposure and sharpness are good. Nicely done!

I like this too as it creates a tree house on stilts kind of look. I am quite curious as to how one would enter it to retrieve its contents or get out of severe weather. The stow shoes give it a welcoming feel.

Thank you So Very Much Linda! The caches that were in use had doors that locked and they had a ladder that they carried out to access their food and then brought back after they were done.

oh wow. this is so cool! i was thinking at first "how in the world is someone going to get in there?" but this makes sense. i would make a "cache me outside" joke, but :D hehe. this is a great photo. it's got perfect exposure and the details are perfectly clear. i'm sure if i had time, i could count the blades of grass

A peculiar structure. I wonder why the bears cannot climb up those poles and get at whatever is inside. I have seen black bears climb up trees that seem harder to negotiate than these would be.

Thank you so much! The caches that are in use have doors that lock, a black bear might be able to climb the pole, but he would have a difficult time getting into the cache while holding on to the pole, they use both front feet to hold on, I was puzzled about this too, but bears don?t usually look for food in trees, this cache may have been used at one time but I suspect it was for decorative purposes, it has no door

A lovely capture of this authentic little cabin. Up high to better see the animals without being "caught"?
The green of the trees surrounding it add to the solitary appearance. I wonder how they get up that high? :O

Thank you so very much! This is a place to store food so the animals won?t get it, this one in picture is not in use, it?s just for decorative purposes, the ones that were used had doors that locked.

Pat,
A beautiful & interesting picture of the Bear cache , looking like a mini Lag cabin on stilts framed by the trees on either side the snow shoe making an arch over the door. Beautiful composition framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.
