this would be an excellent slide in a music video, especially temporary home by Carrie Underwood. it's such a sad drawing, but it's very well rendered.

This seems a sad story. The old man appears to be in a coma, while distressed family members still try to support him. Who knows, he maybe still feels the love of his family. A recovery is plausible I guess, but I have the feel that he is in a realm between life and death going toward the end. Might be the end is relief from suffering for all people involved.

I love the bright colour choice to portray what is essentially a grey topic for most. It conveys the message of belief in a better life to come, and the sadness that a loved one is about to leave this life. Very moving, with a touch of whimsy x

This music video will have some scenes.like this but there will brighter ones that follow once I get the sad ones done. The song does have a happy ending. Wink. Thanks for the review

A very well done rendering of a touching and dear moment MK. We all go through it during our lifetime and it is never easy. Not a topic usually tackled on the site. Good use of the color palette and the expressions are just right. Thanks for sharing and reminding us of the temporariness of life. Chuck

So true Chuck..heck folks act skiddish doing reviews on this. Maybe I should have put a warning label stating.." warning..you have a better chance of getting hit by a bus than dying after reviewing this drawing!"..lolol.. thanks for the great review

A serious theme indeed. I am sure the other illustrations take the story forward. It reminds the viewer, we are all here for a short time and this is our temporary abode. Very well illustrated. Thanks for sharing!

This one is a little sad in subject, but drawn well, as usual. You created fitting expressions on the people and the shading and highlights of your colors look good. I'l have to follow the story!

Melancholic creation with a nostalgic feel...
Great story telling factor.
Still colorful despite the dying theme...
Meticulous rendition of detailed compositional elements...

Hi Mark, You know how much I enjoy your comical characters, but this brilliant piece does not fit that genre at all! I see SO much pain in these characters. You captured their emotions beautifully. The old man's facial expressions so fit the circumstance. You can see and feel life slipping away. There is pain, but I can also see peace with him.
The little boy is so sad. You know the loss of his grandfather will be devastating to him. The woman who is probably the daughter of the man and mother of the boy emanates double the pain. Her face reveals the pain of her father and the pain of her son. Those are the feelings you have created in this. You nailed a LOT of the emotions one feels at a time like this! Incredible Job MY Friend! :o) Nancy

what ever its real reason for creation is, it works as a piece on its own merit, something I try to strive at! Your cartoonish style works to give us a very human story here.
