This is a very powerful image. I do feel maybe the face is a little too dark under the eyes, which detracts from the impact of the work. Good colour choice, and overall excellent work.

Did you choose blue to make this sad and moody? I like your work and style a lot. My Aunt died last year after struggling for years with dementia and it was so tough. Tough on everyone especially her. She was tormented daily by her lack of understanding and wish to have some control back. My cousin still resembles this picture- gave so much to her mum and still feels like she should have done more. When I view your picture with this in mind it makes a lot of sense. The eyes are gripping.

Nice attempt to bring out this social concern.
Good sympathetic gestures for all these caretakers doing an emotionally & physically draining job!
However, this is quite obvious artwork for an Abstract Contest.
I don't know but I guess it should be something not too recognizable at first or even second glance that's needed for the comp.
But this is an endearing presentation...
Best of luck in the contest!

I worked doing hospice work for a while, which is the poorest paid nursing work. It really should be the best paid. What you are trying to bring attention to is similar. My sympathy! I will say that I don;t know the source, but a phenomena I experienced of hearing many birds singing as someone was about to enter the death process made me think that some unseen beneficence exists beyond all this. Your painting's color scheme in itself conveys the sense of sadness. The dimensions and expression is good. If the hair and cheeks had a bit more attention to detail I would rate it higher. Thanks for sharing, Daphne Oberon

what a sad, sad, state, but that is humanity. All blue for sadness and for depression. Her sadness is written for all to see, even without the raining tears in the background. Superb

You have definitely created a huge sense of sadness with the skin coloration in the face. The tears coming out the eyes are illustrated so well. I also like how you have added so many tears surrounding the person to emphasize the point of the painting. Those droplets look great too.

Dementia is nothing to take lightly.
You have depicted here, a hurting of someone. Someone who cares enough to dress stylistically and nice but perhaps can't remember a simple name or where she was for a time.
A disease that ravishes the brain and makes those close to them uncomfortable and worried not knowing the next step.
Thanks for all you do for your loved ones to care for them.

Your book on this subject can help others. This needs to be shown, written about and explained as you have on a few art pieces. Seeing real photos of real people is great, but maybe they do not need to be seen that way, they have dignity I am sure, even if they know not! These art pieces are kind, gentle, painful and yet, I care even the more now! Thanks to you! You have conveyed to me this truth and I needed to see this one. More please and hoping for that book soon, it is so worth it! Name chapters, the phases, the unexpected and the endings. My daughter runs 4 homes as such. I know very well and I myself may be at one of the homes in my journey! Her homes are under Prestige and Paragon in Salem and Portland, Oregon.

Thank you so very much for your very fine review. My family is not fond of this one...they think it is too dark.

She just breaks my heart!
I love the colors you used and her eyes say it all. I think you did a excellent job of showing the emotions. It does make me want to be kinder and more aware of others. Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece!
