Nice detailed shot of the Caterpillar with very nice colors and well saturated.
Sharp focus with nice control of lighting and exposure. Good impact with nice technique and technical excellence. Good story telling ability and center of interest....

Beautiful little guy! Never actually seen one for a Monarch butterfly. He is amazing! The details of the veins in the leaves, the lines in the caterpillar are exquisite.

This is a great shot of the monarch caterpillar; at first glance I thought which end is up! Your lighting and focus are so good it demonstrates every strip and feature of this creepy crawley. Good Job. Good luck in the competition.

Wow! This is an incredible capture of this caterpillar! I love the white , yellow and black stripes! This shows the details so clear it's as if I can touch it! Very well photographed with spot on focus, this image is clear, perfect exposure brings forward the natural colors and tones . This caterpillar stands out well from the green leaf and shows good detail, well composed allows not a good close look, impressive to view!well presented! Best wishes to you in the contest!

A fine entry into the Starts with C Contest and a good contender and good luck. Perfectly cropped and your vertical framing works perfectly. Your lighting is spectacular and your sharp focus revealing excellent details on the monarch butterfly caterpillar feeding on the milkweed leaf. Your wide aperture has rendered the background soft yet recognizable and compliments your photograph. Outstanding work and thanks for sharing.

This is an excellent catch. I like that you got him with the milkweed in its mouth on the half eaten leaf. The light is soft, but the caterpillar is well focused. The features of the caterpillar and the plant show defined detail. The tall framing emphasizes the caterpillar sufficiently.

Thanks for your review! This one cooperated nicely by turning it?s head toward mm;the other three I came across were stationary on their respective leaves!
-
No, you should not turn it. What gives you this idea. That the caterpiller is hanging down is the best feature of the photo. :o)
-
I know that,I?m just glad he turned his head toward me so I could the shot!
-
Yes, that was nice of him. :o)

I appreciate your great review very much! The milkweed leaves it feeds upon contain a toxin that makes it taste very unpleasant and is passed along to the butterfly stage.
