I like how you presented this lovely shot of the purple Orchids, Pat, with the black background providing a perfect frame to show the flowers off well. I do not know the name of this Orchid either, but think the blossoms are especially beautiful. Their colors are impressive and eye pleasing. The placement of the curved branch in the square format is intriguing. The dark background emphasizes the blossoms exquisitely. The branch is well focused and in good light.

this is very likely an Odontoglossum hybrid (there are more than 2000), not a species (about 150) and nothing to do with a phalaenopsis (as indicated by mike); a very beautiful flowers and excellent capture;
and if you ask why I know: I have a small greenhouse growing orchids....
