Very often when I see photos of this bird, it is the black male, but I honestly believe the female is just as pretty. You have pictured it so well, and I especially like the light greens in the background. It is giving the photo an almost romantic look, and the bird is standing out from it in an excellent way.
Your focus is spot on the bird and sharp showing really clear and well defined details both in the feathers and the head. You have also brought out the fine high light in the shiny eye because of a perfect exposure.
The format you have cropped the photo into works really well, and the bird has got a very good placement within the frame. This of course makes for a good and well balanced composition. Indeed a beautiful and well taken photo Barbara, and with an excellent DOF.

Nice detail easily seen in feathers , face and beak, good eye contact complete with catch light. Well composed in this natural setting, well presented!
