In the long distance view, it is a little hard to make out the features in the sculpture. The close-up alongside it is more focused and easier to see. Interesting historical subject. Lighting is good.

    Julie,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on the Hauntings Soldier. I put the long view to show the people who had some for the ceremonies & the second to give a better view of the statue. The large crowd, fading daylight & the flood lights made it difficult to get the best photos.

A very poignant and impressive image. Just the thought of the hardships they endured makes the heart heavy. Nicely presented with good clarity, sharp focus and DOF. Thanks for sharing.

    Sesha,
Thanks a million for your great review on this Statue of a weary Soldier leaning on his upturned rifle during the ceremony of sounding the last post on Sunday to honour all those who died & fought for Peace! There were also many young men from India who died too in both World Wars...for what.. the World is still at war!

This reminds me of that contest about statues or monuments.

Nice info notes with nationalistic concern.
An interesting initial impact.

Endearing image of paying tribute to those who risked life & limbs just to defend the Motherland from intruders...

Great story telling factor.
Fantabulous collage.

Thanks for sharing...

    Dickson,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on the state in the Park for the Commemoration of the end of the First World war in 1918 after four dreadful years of war & killing of a Generation of young Men...

Cool,Susan!
That's a highly interesting and very enjoyable photographic presentation,my friend!
It makes me think of my Great Uncle Edmund who was literally torn apart by heavy machine gun fire while leading his squad of American infantrymen in a desperate charge against German positions in the Argonne Forest offensive in the closing stages of the 'Great War'!
I never met him of course - although his brother & a fellow WW1 veteran,my Grandfather, was my best friend when I was a small child- but thoughts of his bravery have Haunted me for most of my life!

    Sean,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on this Hauntings Soldier in Stock Stephen's Green to commemorate the end of the so called Great War that killed almost a generation of young men , leaving too many widows & orphans & grieving Parents, brothers & sisters. You lost your great Uncle & I my great Uncle & Grandfather.

    You're very welcome,Susan!
It's strange to think that World War One is now beyond living memory!

Great photo with a poingent message. It always seems strange and rather sad that after all the soldiers of a war are dead and almost forgotten that we look around and see that nothing has changed. It makes war seem like such a waste of people and resources. Having been to Afghanistan 4 time and knowing guys who died there it all seems like such a tragedy. Someday all that people will know about the war in Afghanistan is what they might read in a book. Nothing changes. Thank you Susan for posting this ~ Steve

    Steve,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on this Statue with it's message of the resulting waste of life that war brings. Killing to many young men & now women who join up to serve their country with dreams & hopes of gaining experiences that will help them raise their own families & make the world a better place... My Grandfather & his brother both died in WW One & my father served in the second. He never talked about it until he was in his 70s.

    Fred,
Merci beaucoup mille fois for your complementary review on this Statue of the Hauntings statue on Sunday
There was a similar feeling in the crowd to that I got when seeing the everlasting Flames & flag under la Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
