This is an exquisitely drawn portrait which deserves the first prize. Congratulation on winning the contest.
The drawing is done with great skill and attention to defined, realistic detail. The proportions and perspective and the shading are flawless. I like especial her face expression. The proud look and the almost hidden smile are very captivating.

You are so talented. It amazes me how you can create such completely life like drawings that could be mistaken as photographs. This is the way I would like to be able to draw - but no such luck in that department, lol. This was such a nice gift.

This woman has character. It is as if there is a glow around the left back side of her. You have captured her age and wisdom wonderfully. Great work.

Hi Linda, Love the incredible detail in this! Love the soft shadows of the subjects pullover top and pants. The pose is wonderful! I think ALL aspects of this drawing were beautifully done. I'm sure the granddaughter was overwhelmed by the image , especially at such a sad time. I have the feeling it was a blessing to her. The image touches your heart! Your skill as an artist shines here! :o) Nancy

Linda, your proportions of the figure is spot on, it is for the most part well rendered. The monochromatic approach, all the tints, tones and shades to the drawing comes across really well.

The one aspect of the drawing, might be the presentation here, is the blown out white area on her for head, which for me detracts from the overall composition and takes away from the details, of the hair her eyes and glasses and the far side of her face.

Like I said I like the details everywhere else, just for me needs a little refinement, by reducing that white blow out are on the forehead. It is a crying shame how that detracts from the overall well drawn areas of the rest of the drawing.

Hi Lucien. The blowout, as you call it, is my interpretation of her angelic spirituality. She was a saint. She was truly devoted to her faith, and she reflected the love of Jesus throughout her entire life. I wanted to somehow show this in my drawing.
