Oh what a beauty you have captured here Grace. I love the colors and your sharp focus is so spot on.

The snow adds such a nice touch of natural drama which enhances this beautiful bird, especially the red and black and white feathers. Nice work Grace ~ Steve

A very nice shot. I don't often see them on the ground, especially in the snow. A well composed shot with nice detail and beautiful colors.

I believe this is the first time I have seen a woodpecker on the snow like this! We have to Downy and another type, I forgot it's name, this is a beauty with its red head and that woodpecker black and white pattern that I love! This is well focused, clear to view and your exposure and the whites are perfect! Well placed in frame , nice side profile of this pretty bird, well presented! Also, I meant to answer your question, we have no harmful spiders here, we have no fleas, or ticks or termites either and heartworm isn't an issue for our dogs. Thank you for sharing this woodpecker in the snow!

Thanks you Pat! So it sounds like you do have spiders......ewww. I would research that online but i wouldn't be able to bear the images that would come up, lol!

We have some but not a lot, I don?t like spiders either , we have the orb weaver which is creepy but I?m told harmless.

Grace,
A beautiful picture of this Red-bellied Woodpecker scratching up the snow looking for the Sunflower seeds you have scattered there. Beautiful composition framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

What a great view you have presented of this handsome bird. Your white balance and light management on all of the bright white snow is handled very well. I love the tight crop so that the viewer can see all of the details in his feathers. A joy to view. thanks for sharing. :)
