This is indeed a great entry for this contest, and I suppose landing on this flower wasn't the smartest this fly could have done. I especially like how well you have brought out the fine shine in the fly body, and how well we can see the small hairs on the surface of the flower.

Your focus is spot on and sharp showing such clear and well defined details both in the fly and the flower, and the exposure is perfect.

The format you have cropped the photo into works well and the fly is nicely placed off to the left. A great looking and well taken photo with an excellent DOF, and I wish you luck with the contest.

Very interesting! This fly is very close but not sure if it is considered macro. I like it as far as that goes. The colors are interesting to see and I like the pattern.

Very interesting photo! I loved reading more about it in the backstory. I can see how that little fly would be confused. Excellent display of a close up here. Good luck in the contest.

A very impressive shot of this beautiful green, carrion seeking blowfly and intriguingly mysterious imitative "flowering vegetable"! What interesting fibers between the pattern of red lines. Plants are so diverse! My admiration! Daphne Oberon

This is really interesting! Thanks for the history and background that goes with this photo!
I'm not a fly fan, they kind of gross me out! Lol
But this is well done!
Thanks for sharing!

I had a friend who was a horticulturist and he grew one of these repugnant flowers several years ago. He has long since died and I would not repeat his experiment even if I knew I could get a fine shot like this one.

An interesting picture of the beautiful if pungent Stapelia with a visiting iridescent green Blowfly attracted by the odour of rotting flesh. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.
