Wonderful image. The bird is tack sharp and you caught a catch-light in his eye. The dark background allows the bird to "pop". The moving snow flakes add to the sense of the winter day. Well done

A very nicely detailed photo of the cardinal. Excellent colors and good
contrast. Good impact
with nice control of lighting and exposure.
I like the snow flakes which give visual appeal.
Good technique and technical excellence. No
visual distraction to pull the viewers eyes away from your subject.
Congrats and thanks for sharing.

Another great photo of a glorious red cardinal! It intrigues me how these birds show up both in hot deserts and as have pictured here, in the winter snow. The cardinal in winter against the vibrant green branches laden with snow reminds one of holly berries against the dark green holly. Red and green, the colors of Christmas. My admiration for this lovely clear close up! Daphne Oberon

Wow Willie, that is a tremendous shot. I know about having an eye for great shots but opportunity is such a big part of it with birds. Especially back in the 35mm days. Once I've got things focused, off they go. But you sure captured the wonderful colors and detail of his eye, hat, even his toenails. And he contrasts so nicely against the lovely green leaves and spattering of snow. I live on the northwest part of United States and I dont believe I've ever seen a cardinal. But I've seen my share of the blue feathered cap wearing variety...blue jay. And they are loud scavengers. Something so proud and regal looking about a cardinal. I wish you all the best in the contest. Really nice.

Thank you so very much! I take them for granted as I see them every day and have seen them all my life. They are the Kentucky state bird. But to really look at them they truly a beautiful bird! Thanks also for the six.

Willie,
A beautiful picture of this male Cardinal perfect in the evergreen bush/tree with snow falling around it contrasting with his beautiful Scarlet plumage. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Clean crisp detail .Beautiful color. The patches of snow add to the depth of the image. Would like to know some Tech detail. Type of camera, lens how far way from subject. Well done. Best of luck with the contest.

Thank you so much! I use an olympus E3 camera with a 300mm lens. ISO 100 using a flash. I was about 4-5 feet away.
