Wow LeeAnn, this is just an amazing and incredibly beautiful image of this female cardinal. She looks so beautiful in the snow with perfect focus and color and incredible detail. I love everything about this so well taken photograph! Best wishes in the contest! It's a beauty!

Thanks so very much for the wonderful review,well wishes and the extra star! I was extremely lucky that I was able to get about 4 photos of her before she left.We had one about a week earlier that had flown into the window,and ended up bringing her inside an putting her in a mesh enclosure,certain that she was going to pass.The next morning she was chirping and fluttering around,and flew off as soon as I released her. We have several female cardinals around,but perhaps she stopped by to say thank you! :)

Your focus is razor sharp, details crisp and white balance controlled.
You have nice eye clarity, but I would suggest you lighten a tad more in editing.

This is indeed a cute little lady, and the photo is different because the bird is sitting in the snow. A perfect background for this colorful bird, and she is therefore standing out from it in an excellent way.
The photo is pin sharp showing really clear and well defined details in every part of the bird, and especially the feathers. Because of a perfect exposure and white balance, the snow looks great and a fine high light is captured in the eye.
The format and framing is very good and the bird has got a very good placement within the frame. I think this is a beautiful and well taken photo with an excellent DOF, and I wish you luck with the contest.
