This is great...and you have caught such an awesome expression on his face, which really does make one wonder if he is happy :( The title draws one in and the photo itself is very thought provoking...thank you for sharing!

No,I don't think she looks happy at all,no matter how good the zoo is,she is not FREE. This is a great portrait of this gorilla, very well composed with excellent focus and good natural colors throughout.

Nice positioning of this great ape. Good detail of the hair on the body and head. The dark hard shadow lends to the mood of the photograph. I just wish there was a bit more light around her eyes. Nice depth of field. I would agree that cage free or not, they are not where they need to be. AFRICA.

Excellent notes and sad as it is the good living conditions are not enough. But they are on the endangered list and are hunted all the time. Maybe we should do more about catching and processing the poachers then we could have these beautiful creatures back in the wild and only use the zoos for rehab. A very nice picture of her in great sun light but she doesn't look very happy.

It makes me wonder (as it did Maya Angelou) just what makes the caged bird sing. A beautiful specimen and a fine exposure. I like the forlorn look on her face and the catchlights in her eyes.

Poor thing! How could she be happy in captivity! At least her mate must be hear her! This is fine portrait shot of the female gorilla! The light and shadows, colours and the composition have worked out well. Good effort!

Probably just a bad case of time of the month! Your fine, full and central composition offers us a good portrait shot to enjoy. Sharpness and exposure are good. Nicely taken!
