Beautiful shot! You capture all the fine details in the Pheasant's wing. I also like the composition. My first thought was a mom with baby under her wing. Guess that's where the phrase came from. ;) Then my sense of humor took over... two headed bird.

Thank you Bill!! Lol, your sense of humor has a tendency to take over, and I think that's a good thing!

So cute! I love the blue on their faces and the gorgeous colors of their feathers.
Sharp focus, fine exposure, great details and sweet captured pose of mom covering her baby with her wing.
Sweet shot Greenie ;)

Interesting information on this bird. Nice shot showing much detail in the birds. Good color that shows off their unusual features as well as the feathers. Good focus. Natural setting. Interesting visual story with the young bird hiding under the mother for protection. Well seen and well shot.

Thank you very much! I almost did not see the little when I first saw the mama :)

These are very interesting pheasants, the small one looks like a mini-me of the larger one as it peeks out from underneath the others wing. I am embarrassed to say at first glance i thought they were some type of exotic vulture with their blue heads! Very informative artists notes to go along with this wonderfully well composed photo!

An outstanding, very exotic photographic capture of this extraordinary, protective mother bird and her fledgling! I would sure like to see a photo of the nesting area and eggs! My admiration on this photo and informative post! Daphne Oberon

A very nice shot of this pair. The detail in the feathers is great and the colors are excellent. The setting looks quite natural and the tight composition is attractive.

How sweet to see the baby hiding under the wing of mom! Fully protected! Our moms do the same job for us. All the colors of the bird is gorgeous! The birds at the zoo don't have freedom, but at least they have food on time and shelter. Thanks for sharing, Grace!!!

Thank you Lucas! Some of the animals are much safer there, but it is a shame that they aren't free in the wild. I am happy though that the ones who are unable to live in the wild due to health issues, have a safe place where they are taken care of :)

How precious. The chick seems young and still very small, but its head looks already like a miniature of moms head. It looks as if Mom is hiding also, using the plants as cover. The photo has good depth. The birds are in good focus. The wing feathers and the markings on them are especial sharp. The tight framing is adequate. The composition is balanced.

Grace,
A beautiful picture of this Great Argus Pheasant sheilding it's Chick under her wing with it's head poking out in front, while the hen watches you closely to ensure her chick is kept safe. Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.
