I am not sure how I missed this when it was first posted.

This is quite amazing as it is a colored pencil drawing. I am not an artist yet I can imagine the skill that it took to make a drawing like this.

Very nicely done Lucien ~ Steve

    michiganmike,

Thank you for your time and writing the critique/review. It genuinely and sincerely appreciated. I am pleased you like the drawing.
A collage is to take a bunch of pictures, or possess and putting them together to make a bigger picture, in this case to show pigeons preening. I added the red-brown bird to add a little variety or variability in color to the composition. The arrangement of the birds, I hope brings some diversity and mixture of eye appeal and charm, which causes the viewer to study the piece of artwork longer. In the end, begging the question to be asked; how did he achieve that with just colored pencils?

    Cheers,

I don't really understand it. I'm sorry, but i don't. Why the insert of the other duck? I'm confused. They are pretty I just don't get the configuration.

    Stacey,

Thank you for your time and writing the critique/review. It genuinely and sincerely appreciated. I am saddened you did not like the drawing. Maybe what I have written below will help you understand my intent and remove your confusion.

A collage is to take a bunch of pictures, or possess and putting them together to make a bigger picture, in this case to show pigeons preening. I added the red-brown bird to add a little variety or variability in color to the composition. There are two aspects of any piece of artwork the media and the composition, and whether the artist has master either or both.

Maybe with this explanation and you re-looking at the piece, you will reconsider the rating and changing it.
    Cheers,

This is pretty much out of the box. It exited some of what we have learned about composition. The mix of fully colored drawing and slight touches of color is highly unusual and therefore interesting. So is the formatting of the four angular parts. Especial impressive is that two rectangles of the same drawing occupy the center. That those are black and white except for the eye and arranged diagonally is as unusually and in my opinion emphasized the two horizontal drawings. All drawings are done skilfully and with great attention to exact detail and perspective.

I does works as intended. The viewer indeed studies the entire composition and the details of it for a long time, and what is more important, thinks about it. I did both, so I hope many others do too. :o)

This is awesome Penmaster. Pencil too..very cool. You really got the details stand out well. Years ago I tinkered with the color pencils but wasn't up my alley.. course I never the results could be this. Wow. The shading is excellent. The depth is excellent. The body form and language in all is excellent. Overall the creations are balanced and very eye appealing to the viewer. Creative and awesome work overall (clapping)
