This brings back a lot of memories of me and my older brother catching tadpoles and raising them until they became frogs! About how big was this one,I would think it might be a green frog or maybe a bull frog tad. An excellent photo with beautiful focus and colors, nice diagonal placement. I'll have to go over to my pond,we have bullfrogs, and green frogs, and I'll have to see if i can catch some tads!

Thank you very much! I'd say his body was probably 3 inches long before his legs. Congratulations on your contest win too! It is such a cute shot!

Sounds like it could be a bullfrog tad,as they get to be 6 inches long. And thank you very much! LeeAnn

Hi Envision, I have seen frog tadpoles plenty of times, but I swear this one seems to have a flat body. LOL Love the shot you got of him on this Lily pad. Lighting and focus show this fellow of well! I see this about to be frog hasn't developed his front legs yet. Very Nicely presented! :o) Nancy

Kudos for such a rare and unique shot!! I've personally never witnessed this part of their change! To have the full size head, teeny back legs, and the detaching tail.... wow! The subject is on a perfect backdrop, not over lit or shadowed. All in all a wonderful photograph of a very unusual subject!

A very nice shot that shows the transition from tadpole to frog beautifully. I like how he is half out of the water. Great detail and beautiful colors.

A pretty good nature shot posted here! Your fine composition captures a basic, yet fundamental nature moment. Exposure and sharpness are good!

Nice nature capture!
Excellent choice of an odd subject.
Low lit shot against a verdant overtone!
Dynamic diagonal framing.
Sharply focused.
Thanks for sharing...

How lucky is this to be able to capture metamorphosis in a photograph that should be in National Geographic! Focus and clarity are great, and background of lillypads show him off well Nice one!

Excellent capture of this prehistoric looking tadpole/frog and very good notes accompanying this. We had to study the life of a frog at school in Biology, I remember - amazing how it happens, isn't it? Excellent lighting and focus showing great detail. Very good composition. Suzanne
