My daughter's mother in law had a mum in a beach house in Mumbai. I heard this phrase 'beach house' and imagined a golden city washed by a blue Indian Ocean, a city of vivid colours and noise. When I was in India, I tried to get a train over to visit her, but they said it was booked for months ahead?? so I went to Nanital instead. What I see are british-style roof structures, like castles and modern international towers which are everywhere. I imagine on the ground it would be very different
