Lovely little chap, or lady. I like the way his round little figure is caught on the straight lats, his fluffly feathers against the smooth wood and most of all, his whole presence! Do you think some birds are liked because they have pretty large eyes in ratio to their heads. I remember in my first year at University, we did a study on how humans like things with big eyes, what ever size of shape the rest of them is, and it was deduced it has something to do with 'babies' and the capability of creating new life. Might seem far fetched, but I do wonder at times, when I see what fashions bring in.

    Renate,
    Thanks a million for your review on this little fluffed up Dunnock, that I call a "Grey Friar Bird" because it's plumage enables it to disappear in among the low growing plants & under bushes.

Nice picture. Cute picture of this bird. The focus is good. It seems like Its a little blurry but still very good capture nonetheless. Good luck to you!

In spite of the motion blur, I do see refinement of body and plumage. I like the POV. The pose of the bird and the shadow beneath are intriguing. The colors look realistic. The bird is well placed into the frame. The composition is balanced.

Super cute little bird, he has his beak open , I love his feathers! I know these little birds move quickly. I like his pose and his shadow behind him on the deck. Your artists notes are interesting and appreciated,

    pat,
    Thanks a million for your complementary review on this little Dunnock. In all the years I've been taking pictures of my garden birds this is along with the Wren, the most difficult to capture out in the open.

A very nice and fluffy nature shot posted here! Your fine full and central composition gives us an enjoyable view of visiting sparrow. Sharpness and exposure are OK. Nicely taken!

Another real little beauty Susan and yes Dunnocks do eat them!
Yoy can always see them popping in and out of the hedgerow and in among the grasses but this is not that common to find them out in the open like this, love that pose and the detail in those feathers really shows off thier true colours, I have tried getting these myself as they hop in the grasses but not really any luck so far!

    Adrian,
    Thanks a million for your complementary review on this little Dunnock for once out in the open not in it's usual habit under the bushes or long grass. I've only captured thee or four among my thousands of bird pictures.

no idea what it is, but certainly a well nourished juvenile with the white spots on his feathers; he looks like the juvenile robin you once posted;

    Fred,
    Merci beaucoup mille fois for your complementary review on this little immature Dunnock or House Sparrow...they do resemble immature Robins but are timid & tend to run along the ground under the plants while to Robins like to show off.
