Hi Len,

Congrats on the award for what is a fantastic photograph. Love the expression on the hornist's face. May I be cheeky and ask if I may reproduce this image with graphite pencils please? It will be a delight! Thanks, R

I think the black and white format was the perfect choice for this image. It really emphasizes the textures and gives the man attractive richness. The subject is unique and interesting. I admire the variety of tonal contrast in this image too.

I love all the texture in this photograph from the rough and tumble hair to the buttons on his cap to the hammered look of his tuba. His neatly trimmed beard is a nice contrast to his wildly flowing hair.

this should be a winner of the portrait contest Len; an excellent idea to convert to black and white: a lot of details already, no need to be distracted by colors;

A wonderful black & white portrait of this interesting character playing his instrument. Considering you had a bit to drink this image is very focused and super clear! The man has wonderful details which black & white does great justice to.
I do not have any 6*'s left, but worthy of it.
All the best in the contest!

A fine shot that looks particularly good in black and white. The stark look shows off the man's features very well and that battered instrument is fantastic.

    Thank you very much michigan. The battered instrument and the battered musician both appealed to me ... that and his bizarre outfit.

Looks like and sounds like you had a good time there after an uncertain start! Your full and central composition certainly does capture an interesting character!! Exposure and sharpness are good. Well done and good luck!

well its like the old line in a song..'all the girls get prettier at closing time!"..lol..you did a good job capturing this under the influence. the clarity is great. the capture of the light is great. the angle of the shot of this old musician is great. the image is balanced and eye interesting to the viewer. good eye and great job overall.
