A Rendering

I'm honored to be the 26th reviewer to give this man the All-Time Best Status medal!

This looks like a negative print rendition!

I was asking this question last week: Can a negative modification be considered & qualified for the Black & White photo contest?

Some answered yes but two answered they don't think so!

Well, this has a painterly look and a ghostly feel...

I like the studio highlights effect...in a reversed fashion.

Nicely framed in a tall format!

Is he a real person rendered from a photo reference?

Looks like a chiaroscuro presentation too!

Thanks for sharing...

Thank you Dickson. This is a photo of a photo I think. It was in a lobby of a motel. I doctored it to a degree to enhance the overall look. I don't know if this would qualify as an entry for a B&W Contest. To be on the safe side I did not enter it in any contest. Thank you again for your review ~ Steve

I think your effects here really create an interesting mood to the image. The dapper young man looks ready to take his place on the stage to play his harmonica, maybe with a bit of nervous apprehension. The image reminds me of a cross between a negative image and a drawing. Very nice work!

A creative and unique Mixed Media Steve with good initial impact. I like your tall vertical format and your choice of black and white. Also like the smokey moody look of this piece and the candid pose. A creative and talented Mixed Media and thanks for sharing.

This worked out well. I like this. Looks like I am looking at a negative. A cool presentation here. A different way to show something in black and white

I really like the painterly effect you achieved with this technique. It almost looks like a really fine scratch board art piece. I like the light source created behind the figure that gives him a back lit effect.

I always will applaud and encourage all to step out of their comfort zone to learn and grow and try new things. For this I give you the five stars.
I like that it looks like a painting or charcoal type artwork.
But for me it looks like an X- Ray filter was used and the whites that are blown out take away rather than add. If the whites were Controlled better I say your experiment in filters worked.
I believe White balance is vital to Photography and it's sad so many get it wrong and then make excuses for it.
The whites are too blown on his tie and back of head.
I understand it's a matter of taste so for that I would never give less than.
Less is more and this looks like it could have be a six star black and white photo had the whites been Controlled.
The pose and set up are fantastic.

Creative piece Steve.

Thank you Sandra. Your comments are spot on. I agree completely. Will see what I can do to tone it down a bit and get those whites back where they belong. I Always appreciate a learning moment. Thank you again ~ Steve

This is a great composition you created!
You did a good job of editing it.
I enjoy how you made it look like a painting in editing.
Well done!

Wow this guy just stands out in luminosity shining the light in the darkness - fantastic composition, excellent contrast and lighting
your small framing fits him perfectly - your portrait is unusual and for sure it has a fantastic visual impact
seems another world - excellent job,

Your young man seems to have travelled here from the 1950's looking at his clothing and general appearance. Not altogether sure that I like the image but I do appreciate the intent behind it.

Now this is different, good that you have tried something different Steve, have not got a clue how you done this but as a portrait with a difference it works well, and the vertical format is ideally suited to this..Brian
