I used to do paintings like this all the while after I came to England from Bavaria, to relieve my homesickness. Then I threw them away. It was difficult, my mother was not german, /austro-hun/ my stepfather hated the germans, and I thought I was a german!! the nuns 'germanised' all children in their care, obviously. Did you know that adults do not think children get homesick or have feelings. not the dog or the snowman, but the background, dozens of them. I have stopped painting that subject now, hence I love this too!

Most memories last whether we want them or not. Try and do a picture as you remember it was, it may leave you refreshed. I always knew kids get homesick, I saw it many times. I appreciate your review and happy you loved it. Thank you again.

I like the whimsical quality of this image. Very cute. I think the expression on the snowman is great and the dog is cute. Your shading on the snow looks good and so does the house.

Well Mr. Snowman probably indeed understands. Doggies relieve is probably warm. I guess Mr. Snowman dislike the warmed, but don't mine the dog. The dog looks a bit shocked that those dressed up snow balls are suddenly talking. This is an cute illustration for a children's book or a greeting card to be enjoyed by all in the family. Its a style children like, humorous and close to reality, but not the same as reality. The vividness of the realistic colors applies to children as well. The painting has excellent perspective and is well framed. The composition is balanced.

Hi Brenda ! This is a cute and humorous scene you have created!
It's the most delightful little home with the shoveled path leading to the front door, I like the wreath hanging there, the adorable snowman with the red hat and scarf on the left side of the path. The dog thinks the snowman is a good place to hike his leg and pee! Very well created, excellent details and colors throughout. Well presented! Best wishes to you in this contest!
