First of all I want to wish you a Happy New Year Brenda. Hope I will see a lot of Your work throughout 2020.

What I like the best about Your painting is the lovely color pallet, and also that you have managed to bring out the shadows in the snow. The shape of the log cabin is unusual and charming, and I like how it is framed by the trees.

You have brought out fine textures all over, and it is a good use of high lights.

When it comes to the composition, it is all together well balanced, but the needle trees and the cabin together has a shape of a triangle on to the foreground snow, and personally I would placed a few small ones further Down on the left to break it up.

Still an all together lovely and well done painting, and I wish you Luck With the contest.

Very good wishes to you too for the New Year and Congratulations on being mixed media photographer for the year.! *****
Thank you for your indepth review, I love to get these type of comments both complimentary and helpful. This is a sort of commission and I adhered to the old photograph but Geoff wants a version also of springtime which I have nearly completed and based on your suggestion will see if I can do a few trees or framing branches to the left, forefront. It's guesswork this one so think I can use artistic license. :)

I hope he was pleased with your work of this historic building. Would be interesting to know if it is actually still standing. The cabin looks very solid and your work shows the conditions they lived through.

How wonderful. Oh, this must have been paradise on earth. That is such a clever build too, the snow slides down and does not sit on the roof to cause leaks and damp. I believe the deer because when I lived in America /lawyer said no stay for DP's what ever problems even when totally self supporting, as we are allies of the English, so cannot acknowledge their misdeeds openly/ deer used to come up to the doors. My friend took out a licence to shoot them. I nearly died but he did! and another friend came once, with a load of dead deer, two I think they were, because her husband hunts. I was aghast. They don't know what they have, how amazing their country and environment is.

This was an amazing build O think by my friend. He wishes he could go back and see it again but at 84 it's unlikely. A great review. Thank you.

Very nice winter scene, I love the rustic cabin with the birch trees on the left and the evergreens on the right, the snow covered ground and the snow flicked trees, the three deer have wandered in near the cabin , they are well created and bring life to this pretty scene. Well rendered with good colors and tones, very well, applied! Well presented!
Best wishes to you in this contest!

I would love to see the inside of this house. He must have built a very strong structure. I like the roof line. No water problems or gutters. The addition of the deer in the foreground adds a lot of interest. I would think his wife was glad he built a house for her so they could be together. Now that's love.

It is a super story and I would love to see inside. I believe the two floors were sort of open plan around the big tree and its branches. The front door was not flat on front but to the side giving a small porch with entrance to a dry room for wet footwear and clothes that's why it has a bit out of line on the right. Thank you for a great review. Your comments as always much appreciated

a nice piece of art work and I applaud you for achieving snow colour.I would like to have seen a bit more depth in the picture as it appears a little flat so perhaps darker tones in the shadows and the deer perhaps slightly bigger in comparison to the building but generally overall a good effort
