I love this and it's from a photo but you have recreated the photo in your style no wonder it makes you proud. You have captured an awsome beauty, your colours are dynamic and represent a natural environment. You have the perspective and added value of brush strokes giving texture.
Commenting on your note of art not using photos i have come across aurguments that it isn't art it's copying. I agree if the artwork is realistic and a carbon copy to the photograph but even then I recognise that the 'artist' has a tallent of observation and reproduction of colour theory. Many though use photographs for reference purposes without creating a true copy, they may make the scene with their own style, or use parts to make something in their freestyle believable. Also I have copied photographs then done a memory exercise by recreating with no reference. I find this is good practice for improving my memory when I do freestyle. It's an interesting subject you have brought up.

All my paintings are from photos I took,, they might not be exact replicas as you say but my own rendition of what I see, but I need the reference of something that stays still. I have never tried painting outside a scene because I would not be quick enough to catch the sky or the water as a breeze might come up lol

Doing stuff outside is great practice and a learning curve as you notice shadows and movement like clouds. Often if you sketch or use watercolours you can work quick and capture what you are seeing. Then photo and when you want you can make a "real" piece using your painting draft and photos. I get my your colours will benefit. I follow Andrew Tischler he is a supreme artist but has great tutorials free on You Tube. He does outside stuff then series in his studio.

Very nice painting of Lake Louise, we have a Lake Louise here in Alaska too! I like the boardwalk in front of the lake , the green toned water, the mountains in back and the clouds in the sky. Well rendered , this is a pretty scene, well presented!
