Ah yes, it seems to me you can see the Aztec and Toltec influence in this, along with the colors of flowers and birds. What material are the colorful beads made of?

Thank you Daphne. I am not sure what the beads are made of. Most of the beaded items here are made of plastic beads. This looked like it was recently made so my guess is plastic. Thank you for your review Daphne ~ Steve

The photo is perfect focused and enhanced. I enjoy the sharpness and refinement of detail. I know the colors are realistic. I once owned some of those beautiful artisan works, but lost all in the hurricanes of 2005. The black background emphasizes the colors profoundly. The necklace is excellently placed into the frame. The composition is balanced.

This one is so different for me. It seems more as a photo documentation of a piece of native American antiquity. What if you had made more abstract with a close up reflecting all of the intricate hand worked involved . I think as an expressive piece of reflection it could had added more mystery to it.

Thank you Kurt. You are correct. The contest called for 'Most Colorful'. I have found that if I get too cute with a contest entry it tends to get no where. At any rate I appreciate you review and commentary ~ Steve

a great "out of the box" entry to the color photography contest with this huge necklace, not easy to wear everyday; when I visited Mexico for the first time, about 60 years ago, such necklaces were still made of painted wood beads,

Hi Steve, this is a gorgeous necklace, it is truly amazing to study the way this was made by hand, I have seen our Alaskan natives create very similar products with the tiny beads . You have photographed this well with spot on focus, this image is sharp and clear, exposure is correct , the colors are gorgeous and they appear true. Well composed against the black.well presented!
