yes i read about it in your story and the one you had for real. it seems like the all purpose blade and also capable of taking any task to hand. any functional sharp edged tools, especially farming implements, tend also to make the most fearsome weapons. your picture has an intrinsic beauty..

Great use of black and white definatly has a mood all on its own! Digital art is a hard subject to master and this is laid out just beautifully!

Thank you very much! However, anything under five stars signifies the need for correction though, did you mean that? If so, what was your advice?

I really like the black and white effect. The added items to the painting gives it a interesting look. Nice detail to the knife and sheath, Robert

This is very cool but I think it would be awesome in color. The details is excellent. The depth is good. The hand form is good. The shading is great. The creation is balance and eye appealing to the viewer. Still it's very creative and great job overall.

Oh thank you very much Mark. It used to be in color and the pearls did look very nice. I might play around with putting color back in all but the knife. The pearls in the story are yellow, pink, blue, and two smokey black...

V.D.,this still life composition is so unique and different than everyone else's. Your attention to the details is simply outstanding! I can feel the different textures in this piece, especially sharp cold metal of the knife. I like that phrase "the sharp tip was good for cactus spine surgery". I like the idea of the pearls in the book, too. it is fascinating! My compliments and adoration with the highest raiting! Bravo!

Hi Daphne, this is a well created still life piece, I like the knife and can see that it would be versatile in its uses, I like the hands on the table and the ring on the left hand third finger, the flowers actually are in contrast with the knife, I think the knife is well created with realistic lighting , shape and form, I like that you also show the sheath that protects the blade when not in use. The pearls make this very special . Well arranged and presented! Best wishes to you in this contest!

Well done Daphne. Your images are becoming more and more creative. I like the black and white rendering of this one as it gives drama and immediately captures the eye of the viewer.

Great entry for the contest and I wish you all the best Daphne ~ Steve

Thank you Steve! If you read the caption, I had a handmade Bowie type knife and case like this that I wore and used for years. Unfortunately it got left behind when we were all ousted from Baja by the Mexican Federales -- not for any good reason either. (The government wanted to mine the land my father was leasing and planning to buy, once he got his Mexican citizenship -- they arrested us all instead though. Who knows what happened to my handy knife..... The property (400 acres) was turned into a huge, hideous scar upon the Earth, that keeps widening to this day... San Juan del La Costa. Here is a modern day story about it, lol... https://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/26/travel/baja-california-sur-mexico-road-trip-gone-wrong.html:

If you would ever like a copy of any of my posts just speak up, I'll send. Never any charge. I came down w some flue/bronchitis that is double hard after the smoke from all the fires up here irritated my lungs pretty badly -- I would sure enjoy some good subtropical coastal air! A bit envious of your seascape photo there.... You have fun!
