Renate,
An amusing picture of the Rat up on the curtain rail above your window with blue patterned curtains & a plant in a pot on a hidden table. Created by your artist's eye for composition very skilful brushwork. beautiful choice blending & application of your colours in bringing the scene to life.
it's said we are never more than 6 feet from a Rat. As I live beside a river I occasionally see one in my garden & on my deck. Thankfully because my house has a concrete foundation they can't come into the house from below unless I leave the door open.

Susan, you are so right, my home in London had no concrete floor and honestly, I could hear the baby rats squeaking under my floors. It was just a tiny row of four very old, cottages in the middle of the East End, which was once the Royal Gardens as there is an underground river and very good soil. I adored it there, London is a country to itself. I am squeamish, but my pakistani friend, two doors up, wasn't and when I baby sat for her little one, crib on the floor, a rat or mouse would run across the floor, over the crib and on his way, she just shrugged. And her sister had so many cockroaches, that though she is a lovely, lovely person, I dare not go to sleep when visiting, as I was never sure if my mouth fell open what would enter. Anyway, mum was left a widow and refused to come to London, so I had to go back up north to keep an eye on her, as she was on her own, and my son was very ill. The 'cog' of the family, what kept me here! I have never seen as many rats as I saw in Delhi, when teaching at Ashoke Convent School there! Not at the convent, the nuns killed them all but by the roads.

This colorful painting took me to some wonder land. Amazing piece of art. The color done on this blue curtain is really eye catching. I think the tree (outside the window) could be made more better with adding some fine details. And the color of this mice could be done lighter to give a fresh look to the whole painting. However, the overall look is really mesmerizing; to me it looks like a scene from Cinderella. It would be a great idea to display it in some activity room or kids room.
