The dilemma of to be or not to be! I like the caterpillar's color and soft looking body, yet there are some spikes on it. The diagonal composition, natural colors, focus and detail is very pleasing.

This is a nice capture. Your focus is spot on the head, or is that the behind? I am never sure with those guy's except I see them eating. In any case, your focus is fine. Details are refined and the colors are realistic. The softness and the colors of the background emphasize this eater of valuable plants excellently. The caterpillar is well placed within the frame. The composition is balanced.

What a beautiful caterpillar and I love it's position on the sage leaves it is moving from one leaf to the next. Well focused, the image is clear, exposure is good, the colors and tones are beautiful and appear natural. Well composed and presented! Best wishes to you in the contest!

Very nice photograph! You have captured such intricate detail. This is very well framed. I love how his yellow pops against the sage plant.

I would cover the new tree with netting to get it past the time that the caterpillars are out. A nice shot. I think he looks better on the sage anyway.

Thanks so much Mike - definitely keeping an eye out for more managed to get these onto the tree next door which is much larger and doesn't produce much fruit now as it has been left in a large carpark for shops on main road.

I love the title for this photo. It really suits the moment here. It's also quite the sacrifice since you decided to let these little guys munch away until they became butterflies. Great job!

A fairly good entry into the competition posted here! Your fine and classical composition offers us a good view of your caterpillar and its leafy location. Exposure is fine, but I feel the shot is not sharp enough. Otherwise, good luck!
