This is a great work of art and one more than worth entering into the Flower Art Contest. The complimentary colors make for a strong initial impact. framing of the flowers is excellent and effective. Certainly one by which the others will be judged. Best of fortune in the contest Lucien ~ Steve

    Susan,
I guess you could say that, trying to pick up all the subtle details to make a piece pop using the media and getting the attention of the observer is one of my goals.
Thank you for your time and comments on my painting. I appreciate your time in doing that on this piece of artwork. Yes the colors of the main subject and background bring the flowers towards the observer.

The plant is indeed a member of the Ginger family [Alpina zerumbet]. I like that you show an open blossom and several opening buds. You painted excellent detail and texture. Your colors are realistic. The panting is well composed. The flower cluster is perfectly placed within the frame. {It is said that juvenile plants need 5-7 years until the bloom.]

A nice painting in Acrylic medium of this flower.I particularly like the foliage as you have included a lot of shadow and tonal control throughout that gives the foliage depth. Personally I would like to have seen the same sort of technique used for the flower itself as it lacks the depth and is a bit flat upon the canvas..a few shadows and darker tones within the petals etc would benefit the presentation

    Neil,

Thank you for your time and comments on my painting. I appreciate your time in doing that on this piece of artwork. I am not seeing what you are saying about the flower, it has tonal values that are different between pedals, has textures and shading.

Basically the red tone on the flower in the foreground has a white petal that appears to curve forwards over the red and yellow part of the flower but this is not determined as it lacks shadow i.e. a deeper darker red tone just inside the edge of the petal which would subsequently give this a more 3 D perception to the viewer and the same goes with other petals wanting to give that perception of curvature. You have achieved it with the foliage beautifully as you have scumbled the black and green tones really well.Stay safe my friend

Very colorful and bright flowers. The green leaves are not taking over the background and it is very delicate and clean. I like the contrast of the flowers from outer white to yellow/orange.Great job!
