Yeah,those metal bilco doors for the basement heat up pretty good,most likely it got in and tried to curl up on some of the framework for the steps and fell into the basement. Mice always come in during the cold months,so he got in the same way. Our furnace guy is scared of snakes,this was over by the furnace,we sent him a couple of the pictures and he texted back asking if we had gotten a new furnace guy yet...
