Such a haunting image, but executed with much detail and accuracy. The fact that it is drawn in black and white gives the piece much drama and impact to the inevitable end. The hands and chains are eerie...all referring to the sadness of the piece. Well done!

( Or at least for glorifying the memory of him with statues! )
Rather than just babble on in what I like to think might be a semi- philosophical manner about things which simply aren't right ( such as chattel slavery and disrespect of other human beings for no reason beyond their having a different skin color than 'white' ) I'll just say that you've presented us with an interesting,well thought out drawing,my friend!

This is an rendition the viewer has to think about to understand its full meaning for our modern society. The symbolic of the white and black arm chained together is especial impressive. The statue seems to have gained life and its face shows the anxiety of a drowning human who is to die in the same way its victims did and fears to be hunted by them for eternity. Your drawing is expertly done. The attention to realistic detail is exceptional. The shading is exact. The use of many shades of gray emphasizes the symbolic of this artwork. A very poignant reminder of the tragedy of the slave trade and those who participated in this crime against humanity.
Perhaps when all the statues have been toppled and destroyed and all reminders eliminated and the history books are rewritten then the generations of keeping that period alive and present will begin to heal.
