After seeing your last comment about my review I just had to check out some of your stuff. The odds are that we shall never meet in person, but that does not prevent my appreciation of your work. This is marvelous. I envy how you can take a nondescript background and turn it into a vision of joy with proportionally correct objects or subjects and cause a thrill in the viewer from seeing it. Also, from your text I see that you are not afraid to let a painting happen. Some of my best work is when the painting takes over and starts telling me what it wants to become. I so enjoy that. Some people call it "being in the zone". I call it the "conversation". Moving on. I really enjoy seeing the vibrancy and life display in this painting. Reasons for my five star vote.

Incredible and interesting review. I can be very unhappy with a painting early o
.. leave it in full view a few days then get cracking on it and as you say the painting can tell you what needs to be done. I added the fifth bird.. it's ok... but I think I preferred it with just the 4 and that blank area.

Personally, I think the fifth bird works. Since I never saw the painting with only four birds you may be wondering how can he say that. There is a rule in art about presenting the same objects repeatedly in a painting, or maybe it is my own rule. never make an even number of objects. Our brain will automatically list, categorize and judge them according to perspective, placement and shadow accuracy. An odd number some how interferes with the organizational process in our brain and opens the door to see and enjoy the differences between the objects. There I go again. I like this painting as is.

I am asking myself if this is how they really look like or did you exaggerate the image. I'm going with the latter. Good attention to detail and proximity. I did get a chuckle.

Thank you for your time and review. Puffins are very comical to look at and colourful. You can see the photography if you Google Richard Shucksmith. They habitat cliffs in wild areas, Northern England and Scotland

Yes, this is funny. I like that the Puffins appear unlike each other and that each one has an individual pose and face expression. Your painting has an intriguing cartoon appearance. I would like something in the empty space at left, perhaps a boat or ship in the background. The right half of the foreground is pretty busy and filled up with the birds and the land at right while at the left half is empty except for the background. This imbalances your painting. Any object added at left would balance the composition.

Thank you. Your comments are really appreciated. My intention is another Puffin in the distance left side but I ran out of time. This would fall in line with odd numbers for balance and visual effect. I wanted the background minimal to represent the remote wild areas on cliff that these birds seem to choose. I will get that other bird in especially after your comment.
