what are the things at the end of the deck? two look like nets for something and the main red and black item, well, like a rocket in those sci fi films we used to watch as kids on a Saturday morning back in my youth we laugh about. Ours cost six pence and we called the cinema 'The bughutch' Its real name being 'The Royal,' Amazing skies. I would love to cross the ocean by liner, though I have written imaginary stories about crossing it at my Writers' group.

Very many thanks for your kind and detailed review! The things on the sides are play areas for kids to do tennis and football penalties.

Breath taking deck so vast For a ship captured with the diminishing perspective...

Subtle colors Under a dramatic Cloud formations...

subdued illumination from an overcast skyline

A fine low perspective combined with a wide angle lens makes this deck look huge. I like the parallel lines of the wooden deck and the way they contrast with the texture of the clouds.

What a perspective ! With all the fantastic leading lines I feel that I am sucked into the photo. The sky looks fantastic as well, and offers such a fine contrast to the wooden deck of the ship.

The photo is of course also pin sharp with clear and well defined details to be seen all over, and the exposure is just spot on.

The format and framing is perfect, and I like how everything is centered, because it makes for such a strong and well balanced composition. I think this is a great looking and well taken photo, and with an excellent DOF.

Love this shot and the viewpoint from the deserted deck while out on the open ocean. The sky ceiling appears so close, almost as if stuck in a snow globe.

Nik,
An interesting picture of the empty Sun deck on the Queen Mary 2 Cunard Cruise Liner as you set sail from Southampton under an overcast sky. Hopefully heading into better weather & a storm free cruise across the Atlantic. The ship's Funnel in the centre at the far end. Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus. Good luck in the contest.

I do appreciate your kind and detailed review! Yes, I had a great time, during my week long crossing of the Atlantic!

It looks more luxurious than the voyage our family did in 1945 from Durban back to Liverpool on the MV Mauretania bringing back service families from Southern Rhodesia & South Africa after the War. Though I was but 5 years old I can remember it clearly.

This ship must be humongous. Because of the perspective, the building and cadges look small and far away. That means, the distance is great. Your PoV is interesting. The lines in the deck and the railings on the sides lead the eyes of the viewer to the building and the sky above. The photo is well focused and exposed and has impressive depth. The building is perfectly placed within the frame. The symmetry is intriguing. The colors appear realistic. The photo is well composed and framed. The composition is balanced.

The QM2 is the most fantastic ship I have ever sailed on! It is magnificent!! It boasts gymnasiums, lecture rooms, ballrooms and sumptuous dining rooms. If you get the chance to sail on her do not hesitate. It will blow you away! Thanks for your great review!!

Hey again Nikman!
Another nice photo showing converging lines in the clouds as well as the deck. The colors are soothing and yes it is quite a big deck! haha
