that rather roughed up frill around the neck is nice. rather a sanguine eye and expression, oriental! Some birds have really fierce expressions. the down ward beak is strange. True, those arranged feathers would be great to paint.

Artistsushma,
Thank you for your time in reviewing my photo. It is appreciated.
These birds are interesting to see mostly because of the scalloped look of the feathers.
A little fun history about the bird:
" ... upon the sultans' request a special breed of pigeon was bred in the Manisa Palace. (Manisa is an old Ottoman city in western Turkey). The pigeon breeders of the sultan developed this unique breed of pigeon. For centuries the breed was kept away from the common people. This is one of the reasons why Hünkari is still known as the bird of the sultans in its homeland." Source From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Lucien,
A beautiful picture of this Oriental Frill Show Pigeon watching you closely with it's amber eye it's breast puffed out As it coos It's charcoal grey head contrasting with it's black frilled feathers on it's back & wings just wish you'd shown the whole bird. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with excellent techniques & sharp enough focus. Good luck in the contest.

An attractive image in which the plumage almost looks like it is drawn while the eye is full of life. A nice perspective and a beautiful entry for this contest. Good luck.

I like the shape created by the pigeon Lucien. The curvature - almost creates the fibonacci spiral style, which is fabulous.
Then I like the contrast behind that of the 'straight lines' of the wire framing, plus adds interest to the background.
Nice little catchlight in the eye too. :)
Keep creating,

At first glance I thought this was an unfinished drawing! That's cool how pigeons can have that diverse feather color. I like the black and white color scheme; it helps solidify the photo and give it an aesthetically abstract type of atmosphere.

A stunning looking bird,it's pose and unique coloring with those beautifully edged feathers is quite reminiscent of one of your beautiful artistic creations!,excellent sharp focus and nice eye clarity, the orange iris really attracts the viewer's eye. My only suggestion would be to try and edit out the wires in the background. I think this bird is perfect for the contest, and I wish you all the best!

Now that's interesting. I heard the reference of sultan bird before but I figured it was someone trying to give it a cute name. Very cool to I know and thanks for telling me (thumbs up)
