A nice shot with quite remarkable colors in the kingfisher. While the background is a bit on the busy side the detail in the bird is excellent. Good luck in the contest.

OMG Fred. No one travels more than you my friend. What a beautiful bird. This was worthy of a 6, but it seems a little bit out of focus around the bird's head. The rest of the composition is so incredibly colorful and mesmerizing to say the least. Great entry for the contest. A winner for sure.

Fred I'm really sorry but I have to be truthful about this one as I see it. The focus is too soft for me in the head.
It's detail is lost and in that I see the loss of the true color as well. I don't want to be mean, but want you to try to see this the way I do. There is a small, minor blown out white area on the right top of its crown too, hence the reason I took off half a point.
Thanks for sharing and giving me the opportunity to
give an honest review.

Colorful, and interesting POV. I would not guesses he was a kingfisher. He looks a bit small to be a fisherman. The rich blue sky provides a great background.

I presume fred you used a long lens on this, because I believe because the bird is not entirely sharp,it might have a bit of camera shake, its such a pity as if it had been pin sharp this would have been superb as well as colorfull...Brian

Fred,
A beautiful stop action picture of this very colourful African Kingfisher perched high in a tree above you bathed in African sunshine & a beautiful blue sky in the background. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques& sharp focus. Good luck in the contest.
