I really like the angle of this shot, and how well we can see the feathers of the bird. The light is falling on it in such a lovely way, and it is standing out from the softened background in an excellent way.
The photo is pin sharp and it is indeed clear and well defined details to be seen in the feathers of the bird. The exposure is spot on.
I also like the format you have cropped the photo into, and the placement of the Green Heron off to the left. A truly lovely and well taken photo Eileen, and with an excellent DOF.

He is goregous. My knowledge of heron is expanding nicely. The sharp focus gives him a feeling of 3-D. He is a handsome gentleman. The blurred background makes a great canvas for your fine looking friend.

That's a fine looking picture of the bird that I consider to be the most interesting ( and maybe the most unusual ) of all the Herons!
