an excellent close up Mary of this red poppy, remembering all the fallen people during world war I; excellent sharp details; I particularly like the texture of the petals;

Mary,
A very beautiful picture of this Flanders Poppy in remembrance of all those who suffered & died during the Two World Wars & in conflicts since. My Grandfather was seconded to the 3rd Australian Infantry Brigade at the time of his death. After serving in Gallipoli & on the Somme. He had great admiration for the men in Australian regiment he served with. So many young lives lost.
Artistic composition framing & lighting to show off this Poppy to best advantage. Taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.
Susan

Thanks very much Susan - yes war is such a waste of life and we keep doing the same albeit on smaller scale.

Your photo is an excellent memorial for all the victims WWI.
The photo is well focused and exposed and has good depth. I appreciate the realism of light and color and the refinement of detail and textures. The flower is well placed within the frame. The composition is balanced.

Beautiful presentation of this red poppy bloom that are sown in abundance on some of the rolling hills in European country sites.
Wonderful colors and clear details with interestingly ruffled pedals of this sun kissed bloom.

This photograph has beautiful color and is well focused on the flower, however i feel it's cropped too close to the edges and is not well centered.

Thanks for your review. I purposely didn't center the flower as I prefer to have it two thirds on right as I wanted the green as a contrast.

Others might like it off-centered, I think if you wouldn?t have cropped it so tight the green background (which is well done) would have shown even better.

A beautiful blossom and a great shot. The composition is attractive and the details are very sharp. The colors are fantastic and it commemorates the dead from that war more than a hundred years ago.

I love poppies and in this case what it symbolizes. Well this is just lovely in its vibrant red petals and that intricate poppy center showing the seed head surrounded by the stamens.
It's a nice angle of placement, the poppy is standing out beautifully from the muted green background.
Well focused, this image is clear, exposure is correct, the vibrant red color and tones appear natural.
Well composed and presented!

And my Great Uncle died in the Argonne Forest Offensive.literally cut in half by the German machine gun whose 'nest' he was charging, while serving with the American Forces even though he was a Canadian citizen,Mary!
'The War to End All Wars'! Yeah, that must have been some really 'Bad Business'!
I'm glad that my Grand Dad (another Canadian serving with the Americans ) made it through alive!
That's a fine looking photograph,my friend!

Thanks Sean - war is such a waste of life and so many were injured and disabled by gas. Unfortunately we don't learn and keep repeating the same mistakes over and over :(

A very good looking Remembrance Day photo posted here! Your fine and almost central poppy is a very good reminder of those dark and terrible days. My grandfather was enmeshed in it, but on the Eastern Front in Russia. Exposure and sharpness are good. Well taken!
