I'm a huge fan of abstracts so that makes this (for me) easy to love! :) I can only imagine the textured layering through this Carl, which a camera when taking a photo of it, tends to not be able to pick up. The colours are stunning, and the light and dark mix works beautifully.
Hope you got some great sleep after! :D

Keep creating,
Ann, OpenroadFootprint

Thank you for your five star vote and your comments. I appreciate both. As to the textures, you are correct. Some of the paint ridges are over a quarter of an inch deep. It will take a full year for this painting to dry enough to consider the coat of varnish I am considering.

First of all, I am very sorry for your incredible loss. I am glad you are able to express your emotions in your artwork. I think it is vital that we are able to express how we feel. I immediately appreciate the colors you have chosen here, the various blue and green tones, the colors seem to be coming forward from the darkness, there is a strong sense of motion as I view this, it could be an angry sea at night with the water just churning, my eyes keep stopping on the white lighted portion, that white portion is lifting up and away from the darkness . This has a powerful emotional impact. I have stopped and studied this several times. Each time I come to the same conclusion , get the same feelings, it's the light moving up and away from the darkness. Very well presented! I am awarding this a six because of the strong emotional impact,I not only saw this work, I actually felt it too!

Thank you very much for your six star vote and your comments Pat. I appreciate both. Your comments about the light moving up and away from the darkness are most important to me as that was exactly the visual presentation I was seeking. It was my effort to present the sole arising.

This is a very beautiful piece and I am so sorry for your loss. I think this is a very graceful way to commemorate your wife and release the emotions that come with heavy events. I wish you the best in the contest.

Hi Carl!
I can easily understand the feelings that went into this creation as my own Mate crossed over into 'The Summerland' just a few years ago!
I'm deeply and truly sorry for your loss but I'm also glad to see you posting here on FanArt again and I'm enjoying this beautiful ( and very meaningful! ) abstract creation that you've presented us with!

Beautiful large abstract painting with focus on light and white colors in the center, spreading in to the darker colors of blue and green. The hopefull feeling is somehow created in the painting process that allows for escaping from present reality.
Thank you so much for sharing this intimate moment. Nice work!
